The Roots of ‘Somatic Archetypes in Goal Setting’

by Renee Lindstrom, Author of the Somatic Archetypes

Audio for listening, in Authors voice

Here are some examples of the Author’s personal intentional goal-setting boards going back to ’14. Greater Victoria presented the community with free magazines and newpapers at pick up stations, whereby viewers could pick up copies each month. They were a treasure trove of topics, pictures and words to cut out for all genres for creating collages.

When this author began creating collages, the creativity was simple and lacked the in depth connection to the seeds of inspiration and skillset. Without giving up due to these lacks, they became more elaborate, skilled and creative. Unbeknownst to the Author, an organic integration occurred during this dedicated process. It translated into living actions and character, including the development of a more playful personality. It was a transforming life pattern.

This Author has what she calls a Somatic Heart expression and receptor, and it was covered by years of experiences with others who have no skill sets in recognizing this quality or in interacting with those who have this organic attribute.

Somatic Heart

Each seasonal or yearly intentional goal-setting activity reintegrated this inner connection to the warmth and playfulness of her heartfelt expressions and receptivity. It was a quiet and creative time to be thoughtful and take affirmative action for what she wanted and not for what she didn’t want. It was a subtle shift and possibly the most meaningful. This is not something she would have learned in a Tony Robbins or Jack Canfield program, as the approaches are completely different. One focuses on strategies and the external ego focus, while this is an active practice that leads into the depth of meaning in the core responses before expressing it outwardly to the world.

This approach is unique and individual and taps into core values, while there can only be one Tony Robbins and one Jack Canfield, with others duplicating them over and over. This approach presents the possibility for being authentically oneself and presenting the world with a face that shines from this alignment of self on the inside and expressed outwardly for others to connect to. This is what Tony Robbins did to become the person he is today. He is presenting as his authentic self and tapping into the needs of thousands. The problem is, it can only be done once to the levels of success he has experienced as he is the model, while this approach is an integrative learning model that each individual can integrate as a learned behaviour pattern that focuses on direction, making choices and decisions connected to an inner value system.

This pattern of goal setting begins with a target intention that is overall for a period of time. It expands into doable size chunks, breaking the goals down into logical personal steps for achieving success by taking actional value based movements forward. The difference in this approach is in the actions for checking inward to connect to one’s core values, before taking a socially conditioned assertive approach. This means the assertiveness in this approach connects to self-value and esteem that emanates a different type of assertiveness. It is assertiveness that is more naturally mindful, self-connected and trustworthy. The aggressiveness from a socially conditioned action has potential for disconnection of self and energetically presents with less trustworthiness. This seems to lead to a sales job that is followed by justification. The Somatic Heart expression of this Author then suggests that goal setting that begins with an inner self connection with a focus through trained mindfulness and focus of attention can tap into one’s inner strength and courage to have grounded ownership of their goals that are centered in core values. An individual system within one, and not the goals of someone else’s storyline.

In an earlier post titled Be the Master Creator of your 2026 experience the pattern for creating goals was introduced as is the Somatic Archetypes. These Archetypes are the perception filters that are individual for each person. Consideration of these Archetypes are missing in the earlier goals step patterns that was compared to this approach. This pattern of goal-setting begins with this consideration.

This Somatic Archetype Goal Setting program is an educational system of somatic learning:

  1. sets an overall goal intention
  2. breaks it down into logical and actionable steps over a period of time as an integratable pattern
  3. taps into your Somatic Archetype for personal learning and integration of understanding of unique differences

The benefits of this Somatic Goalsetting program are:

  1. integrative learning happens natural that creates new habits that are productive to personal lifestyle goals
  2. action steps develop skills to increase personal courage and self-confidence naturally
  3. introduces a core value system that is unique to the participant
  4. creates new beneficial habits for taking self-connected and self-directed lifestyle actions

Community Bullying 101

Power over dynamics

As a mature woman, in a casual work and connected home environment, I found myself in an experience of being bullied by another mature business woman in a group of women that ranged in age from young with small children themselves, to those older than them. These women’s behaviour repeated the same patterns that small children demonstrate at the toddler stage when parents and early childhood educators are tasked with modelling how to navigate their triggers to process their reactive feelings and resolve them within themselves before lashing out and harming others. These mothers and grandmothers did not demonstrate the skills or ability to slow down their emotional escalation before focusing on resolving issues that led up to their reactions. It suggests that they had not integrated these skill sets themselves. Keep in mind that these were mothers, grandmothers and aunties of children who were the core educators modelling learned behaviours within their family and community units.

Let me introduce myself

My name is Renee Lindstrom, and I have been focused on educational programs for bullying since arriving in Victoria 35 years ago. This focus of attention has been from a somatic empathic perspective and not at the typical vantage point of strategies and analysis of the behaviours. This suggests the focus has been on the practical steps of integration at the core internalized behavioural level.

The two options:

  • Labelling the behaviours and speaking about them to create strategies with no inner accountability
  • Slowing down the emotional reaction on the inside first to identify the internal stimulus and connect to the causation of the trigger before responding (taking accountability)

More about these two options

These two bullet points suggest that one pattern has a focus of analysis while still in a triggered reactive state. This suggests attention is aimed outward at others without any self-connection first. This suggests it is a position of denial and lacks any personal responsibility. This leads to a projection that lacks logic and empathy in the responses.

The other option begins with an inside focus for checking into oneself first to connect to the internal source of the trigger to calm reactions down before connecting to outside solutions. This option contains self-empathy first to connect to the source of the trigger response before any outside actions are taken. This increases the potential for balanced fairness and equal opportunity in the outcomes.

Back to the introduction of Renee Lindstrom

The first educational choices for navigating experiential learning techniques for deeper clarity and understanding from a somatic empathic viewpoint came through movement and meditation. The mediation I engaged in opened an opportunity to study Feng Shui that aligned with the core syllabus of the meditation practice I was integrating. This led to an intensive dive into Nonviolent Communication guided patterns created by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, Phd, and author of Nonviolent Communication.

My focus on teaching NVC began in 2007 after 7 years of personal study and integration with a focus on the areas of bullying and relationships. I taught, presented and organized events actively in our Greater Victoria Communities in Juan de Fuca, James Bay, Oak Bay, Greater Victoria, and Saanich. It included the focus of primary couple relationships, families, parenting, peers in the workplace and primary education.

Back to the experience

No Remuneration for time and effort where other employee/s were paid for

While this experience that will be described is one in a sea of many, it is a definable one that shifted my patterns of response and continues to demonstrate to me the value in the training patterns I create through my practice and personal studies. It has also been an event where I never received remuneration for my time, yet someone received payment for it, even though it was the time and effort I put in. This, together with my mail being opened without my permission, and a lack of meeting my request to have it forwarded to me, plus some other incidents, I share this event in my life for training purposes. I, like the universe. do not like the lack of energetic reciprocity. This is one way of meeting my needs and balancing this out energetically while sharing it as educational materials. It is paying it forward to others in a positive way.

Being Nudged By Spirit to use this as a pattern to create a model

I believe I am being nudged by spirit or the dream state to share the patterns of how I handled this experience on site and after, as it was either detached or a state of detaching from ego, status and fear. It demonstrated fearlessness and the growth of a higher state of self-confidence and empowerment. A state that bypasses the fight, flight, freeze or fonding states with conscious awareness. Even though I kept telling myself that I had already learned these lessons and questioned how I found myself in this placement now, in hindsight, it was exactly what I needed to go through and be able to integrate into the focus of attention I have held for the past 30 years.

Why? Working with others now, what took 30 years is transitioning in mere hours or days is now happening for others who have gone beyond looking for outside strategies to change, and have shifted into longing for change. When that choice is made, there is less effort in transforming obstacles, and it seems that they fall away with more ease.

Upcoming post points will focus on these types of issues from this experience and will include practical steps to hold both sides equally from a leadership perspective and support each side involved to get their needs met, instead of only one side, due to the leadership going into sympathy versus empathy. This will be an integrative pattern to transform these types of bullying behaviour for your home, office and institution

An example of what you can expect to read about:

  • Home/Business Environment
  • Observations and Pitfalls of institutionalized expectations of employees in a home environment for one person
  • Employees who lacked typical dedication and devotion to their scheduled hours, and their possible contributions to this (from a professional with a background in hotel and hospitality)
  • Bullying incidents
  • Getting Resident outside after being housebound for over two years and only going out to go to Doctor appts
  • Patterns I used to encourage going outdoors with ease and motivation
    • Response of employees hearing about this, and aggressive responses
    • Response of a family member upon hearing this achievement
  • The use of inappropriately timed texting that instigated conflict and aggression
  • No regular eating schedule and missing meals daily basis
  • Lack of routine and schedule, and wellness shift with changes by creating regular daily patterns
  • Harmful Gossip that crossed between family and employees, no boundaries
  • Food Cost concerns by Office Admin that resulted in hostile behaviours, confusion and lack of food for resident:
    • The concern led to insufficient groceries in the home where I began feeding the resident my food daily
    • This concern led to repeated surveillance of me eating my own food by casual employees who wouldn’t know whose food was whose
    • My food was even used to make a meal for a family member by employees responsible for ordering food – there was a lack of consistent food supply
  • Business Partner/Friend who led a meeting to find out my concerns that led to employees changing all the points shared in the next days before our next meeting for resolution
  • Business Partner/Friends open hostility in a Professional Meeting
  • Sabatosh ofreputation in the community after being a whistleblower
  • Business Leader sabatoshing reputation with false accusations in the local community

Before exiting the property, I made some suggestions for the employee to implement. Some of these ideas were shared with a family member and business partner. I will do a detailed list of these points and recommendations and give an explanation of what inspired them. I believe they will be useful for other families who have employees working in a home with institutionalized training. I have successfully created other structured plans for families in need of this service in the local community. They are doable and work well.

Tips to Achieving Your Goals Somatically

Reflection of yin and yang balance (feminine and masculine energies)

Yesterday I shared an exercise to introduce a connection to mindful intention and action in one’s personal environment.โ€‚It is the first tip of 31 created to cultivate somatic and mindful awareness.โ€‚

In 2013 I wrote a little booklet to support an introduction for practicing techniques to ground and expand mindful connection using focused attention on the integration of intention with action. The purpose of these tips is to cultivate conscious awareness.โ€‚One way you can bring your goals into reality is to consider these daily awareness techniques and actions to define your intention. Bring them alive by making time to manifest physical change in your living/working space. ย It takes a few minutes a day.ย  Designed for slowing down and consciously pausing to reflect, notice and take actions. It is for creating your dreams and taking actions to make them happen that combines mindfulness and physical action to create your space of ‘success’. ย Each day for 31 days there is a short pattern or exercise to integrate in one’s environment to support change and connection!

Here is the second tip on day two for you to investigate and experience.โ€‚Each January I follow this program to remind myself and reconnect to my space and things with intention and mindfulness.โ€‚

Here is a pdf of exercise 2 for your enjoyment!โ€‚

Leave a comment and share back how this exercise was for you. For me I felt pleased after doing this task that I have done numerous times before with no sense of joy, rather felt effort previously.โ€‚The difference was the connection to my intention and purpose.โ€‚It change the inner vibration in the action that began with a different mindset.โ€‚My mind was refocused and the thought stories were of a higher vibration.โ€‚

Celebrating Life in ‘2024’

This post is the first in a while.โ€‚The last one I posted focused upon the numerology meaning of 2024.โ€‚As I reread it I recognize my own focus of attention aligns with this interpretation.โ€‚The last half of 2023 had a focus upon defining the balance of material and spiritual wealth.โ€‚The last few decades has had a focus on the evolution of ego that began to transition from an elusive somatic experience into an obvious mindful perspective. โ€‚

What is the evolving focus for Renee in 2024 at the Learning Center for Inside Awareness for Healthy Living?

Defining humanness through somatic function

A strong propensity that created an unintended boundary in earlier years was a strong-willed action for not pursuing comparable modalities.โ€‚This meant choosing one main method for somatic integration and diving deep into the patterns.โ€‚Rather than entering into somatic confusion by trying many similar methods the only consideration for pursuit was a compatible functionally focused method that was an identifiable missing link.โ€‚For example it is well known among Feldenkrais Practitioners that Moshe Feldenkrais was a poor communicator.โ€‚Hence, there was a gap in speaking and listening skills for me.โ€‚Rather than pursuing comparable movement modalities my focus was on integrating speaking and listening skills to create a fuller holistic experience between movement and expressed mindfulness. Starting in 2004 the modalities I mentored and personally practiced were contained and isolated from each other.โ€‚However in 2014 I began to relax and integrate them somatically.โ€‚In the past 10 years, the progress in personal transformation in others and myself has been identifiable.โ€ƒObserving these transformations has been rewarding.โ€‚With a focus of attention on integrating inner change with an intention to shift outer experiences requires an environment for retraining habitual learning.โ€‚A person needs to enter into an adventurous space for unlearning old behaviours while in the action of exploring new ones in a mindfulness state of expanding their awareness.โ€‚Rather than assimilating methods with an egocentric focus of attention the focus has been on functional mindfulness in day to day that defines humanness through somatic function.โ€‚The change in 2024 will reflect this somatic integration process.โ€‚The successful components of these years will be reflected in offerings.โ€‚

Some of the topics that will be added in 2024:

  • Reverse aging

Classes and workshops have been held in activity centers since the late 90’s.โ€‚These have been seasonally with no breaks which has offered the opportunity to work with aging personalities, communication and physical abilities.โ€‚Culturalization of aging has been a big proponent in the aged that has been intriguing.โ€‚This has been a low key focus these years that moved into the forefront in the last five years.โ€‚This topic will become a larger focus this coming year.

  • Cultural entrainment

In the 90’s entrainment was a focus of attention when entering into homes, offices and organizations to consult on spacial awareness and influences.โ€‚This awareness has expanded into its relationship in the minutia of all day to day functions.โ€‚This topic will become a larger focus this coming year.

  • Expansion

Requests for creating supportive development programs for training purposes, consulting and resolving conflict through empathy, to connect first before change versus compromise, has increased the depth energetically in the ethos this past year.โ€‚Expect to learn more about these offerings as they expand outward into other potent life areas such as institutions, corporations, organizations, groups.โ€‚Of course personal transformation materials will continue to grow in offerings for transformation to define humanness in somatic function.โ€‚ More growth this coming year.โ€‚

  • Turning the cultural definition of manifestation into an active vibration

A focus of attention for health and wellbeing that will dominate our 2024 expression will be upon the use of vibration in manifesting.โ€‚The purpose is to transition goal setting into an active expression versus an outside strategy.โ€‚The intention is integrating it into a mindful process versus demand.โ€‚This topic will become a larger focus this coming year.

An example is the first step I wrote in a manifestation booklet in 2013 and still use personally now.โ€‚Each January since I follow this program to reconnect to my space and things with intention and mindfulness.โ€‚Here is an example:

Phone Guru! Call from Tibet asking me if I am interested in Tantric White Light

by Renee Lindstrom, GCFP

On a cold night in the early winter months I received a phone call. It was on my house phone that normally I don’t answer when I don’t recognize the number. After saying hello the caller asks, “Do you know who I am?” My first thought was, “really?”ย  I said, “no!” ย He went on to say, ” your number has come to me in meditation a few times so I am calling you.”

He goes on to say, “I am Sun and I am calling from Tibet. ย I was in Victoria in the fall at the Empress giving a workshop and then he asks, “Did you come?”

Hearing that my number came to him in meditation was suspicious as I believe spirit doesn’t give out phone numbers.ย ย He went on to ask as though to confirm, “you are an energy worker, are you not?” ย This is something I don’t announce loudly in my community.ย  It this is personal to me and woven in my work and teachings. ย It is not a persona. ย  I have witnessed too many people create a guru self-image or persona they haven’t integrated into their behaviour.ย  My experience is that too many people have been unable to act in alignment with the self-image they portray.ย  Rather than be a guru, I am interested in each person finding their own guru qualities within themselves.

I reflected that this person did have a slight accent and the phone line did sound hollow in the background. ย Hum, I ask myself, is this a new sort of scam? However I was curious and guarded. ย This seems to anger him and he began demonstrating his frustration in how he spoke. ย His way of speaking was abusive and his manner was power over. He was trying to put me in a victim positionย  to form of manipulative connection. I thought wow and wondered how many are falling for this? ย Is this the direction scammers are going?

I had questioned the direction I wanted to go in the Heart Centered Coaching I do with regards to sexual issues in the week leading up to this call. ย I have been the confident of a range of sexual experiences and actions of others and on occasion I reflect how this is for me. ย I happened to be in one of these periods of self-reflection. ย  Listening to this man proclaiming to be a Tibetan Guru asking me if I wanted the Tantric White Light, I wondered if this by chance or was something else at work here?

I heard instructions that fit with ceremony that I was familiar with and in this context, I realized that who ever was speaking with me could see what I was doing. ย I looked outside the windows and no one was around. ย I could hear others in the house settle for the night and there wasn’t anyone in the house that I didn’t know. That is when I realized the person on the phone was using remote viewing. ย He knew if I was doing the actions he was telling me to do. ย He knew what room I was in and that I wasn’t obeying his commands. ย At this point I was half in and half out of being committed, and now I wanted to know how far it he would go. ย I stayed on the line and half heartily followed along. ย Eventually there was silence.

During the ceremonial aspect, his instructions became absurd and, whether this was the form of a Tantric White Light Ceremony or not, I do know that in past Tibetan Buddhist ceremonies transmissions as he was suggesting he was preforming is preceded by meditation and extensive teachings that happen in a dedicated retreat. ย At the end of such a retreat one is then given a transmission. ย This telephone voice was trying to take me through a transmission ceremony with no connection to who he was or what his teaching were. ย What was the commitment and responsibility. ย Was he trustworthy? ย etc., etc.

All the while my inner observer was alive and partly intrigued and partly in shock. Disbelief is how I would describe it. ย My concern of course was that this trending tantric phenomenon was becoming a scam. ย This man was not invited by me to enter into my space by phone or remote viewing and certainly he was not invited to be my teacher.

As I sensed my space during this phone encounter and his remote viewing, I experienced that his energetic imprint wasn’t strong enough to engage me on a physical, mental or emotional level. ย I was intrigued, not convinced or committed but skeptical. Afterwards I had to laugh as the ridiculousness set in.

I did type Tantric into Google search and saw the number of professed Tantric Practitioners with western names in my area. ย I thought about the lineage I studied and how the teachers were born into the cultural source of the teachingsย  that is a lifelong experience. ย It was not a weekend, a week or even two. ย It used to be a lifetime commitment.

In conversation with a mentor and friend a few days later, I was given a broader context. I heard and agreed with them that even if this person was a Guru from Tibet, they had a lot to learn about Western Culture and behaviour in relationships. ย As far as my phone number was concerned, I heard the perspective that my number was given to him by someone here in the community. ย I was told that my energy work is well-known here in the community even if I don’t focus on it in any particular way.

In August, 2020 I received a message that this person who calls himself Sun is still active.ย  I was given a link to a forum that shares posts of him going back as far as 2004.ย  The site is called Cult Education and the post heading, Sex Crime Alert: Fake Tantra ‘Master’ in Sedona AZ

What I manifested from this personal experience. real or not, was an answer to my inner questions of working with sexual pain people share with me about in our sessions. Whether it is a session for Functional Integration, ย the movement releases held sexual tension, in Heart-Centered Empathy Coaching, or healing Personal Environments, sometimes sexual issues need to be witnessed without judgement.

My commitment may have not been to Sun, ย however it is to experience sexual healing in a unique Western Way. ย Remember, ย I am interested in the person becoming their own Guru, not in being their Guru!
