Discovering Our Living Relationship with Nourishment

Discovering Our Living Relationship with Nourishment
Our relationship with food begins before we eat and continues long after a meal.
Through sight, aroma, touch, taste and anticipation, our bodies participate in the experience of nourishment. Digestion and nutrient absorption support the many interconnected functions through which we move, think, feel and participate in everyday life.
Yet nourishment is more than a biological process. Our experiences with food are also influenced by feelings, memories, expectations, habits, relationships and the environments in which we live.
Eating for Function invites us to become curious about these relationships through everyday experiences.
Rather than following another prescribed eating strategy, we explore what becomes recognizable through sensing, listening, experiencing and revisiting.
These discoveries can deepen our understanding of nourishment while creating opportunities for more conscious participation in daily choices.
An invitation to explore:
What am I discovering about my relationship with food, my body’s functioning and my everyday experiences?

With respect and gratitude,
I acknowledge the practices and teachings that have contributed to the ground from which this work has grown: Moshe Feldenkrais and the Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education; Marshall Rosenberg and Nonviolent Communication; Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and the Shambhala teachings; and Dyan Grant Francis, Subtle Energy Solutions and Black Sect Feng Shui.
These influences are acknowledged with appreciation for the learning they made possible, while the patterns and interpretations presented here reflect my own continuing inquiry, lived experience and educational development.
