How do you handle blocks along your path?

  • Do you always step aside letting others pass you?
  • Are you the one that blocks the path and ensures others have to step around you?
  • Or do you switch back and forth?  First moving out of the way and then becoming the blocker?

The call of the labyrinth

Preparing for a labyrinth workshop begins with a moment to reflect on the defining moments of this facilitator  journey of bringing labyrinth awareness to life in a public way.  What began as a service to an International Community with the  desire to support slowly integrated a deepened inner and outer connection.

Playing with labyrinths has become a life creative!  Sharing the inner connected experience and organic response of a labyrinth’s pattern has been an integrative  experience  on an intellectual, emotional, physical and responsive level of experiencing.  It’s become a playful guide for conversation, decision-making, connection with myself and others in playfulness, growth and loving moments.  It has become a way to support social change in a heart connective global community with ‘focused awareness events.’

It is also a wonderful way to support leadership in others that naturally emerges as they find their  creative connection and experience inner aliveness and connection! A beautiful outcome has been the community that has begun to form around the shared appreciation and humanity.  The stories and richness of these connections has been unexpected and enriching. A nice foundation!  Onward to gathering the exciting components for a fun, creative and playful experience. Dating back 4 – 5 thousand years it is also known as:

Classical, 7 Circuit, Cretan, Celtic and Hopi Medicine Wheel

This labyrinth has rounded edges and can be described as being kidney shaped.  At our recent Earth Day Celebrations visitors began describing it as being an image like our human brains!

The origins of  the labyrinth pattern is unknown.  The pattern is an archetypal form that is found around the world and they date back 4000 to 5000 years.  Only now is acceptance of using this pattern of movement growing as we  discover the  benefits which includes  improved well-being, increased connection in  reflection, meditation, realignment  and self  knowledge.  These benefits have been experienced from walking, drawing or tracing a finger labyrinths.

Two popular designs are the Classical or 7 Circuit and the 11 Circuit Labyrinths.

7 Circuit

The 7 circuit labyrinth supports a relaxed, calm and outgoing attitude and brings the walk into the  present with more alertness.   You may choose to walk a 7 circuit labyrinth prior to an important business meeting, personal appointment, or when making decisions.

11 Circuit

The 11 circuit labyrinth is a more elaborate  patter and is effective for  deepening personal reflections and contemplation.  The pattern supports balancing the right and left sides of the brain and energy centers of the body.  It can support quieting the mind for clearer insights and inner guidance.  You may choose to walk an 11 circuit labyrinth when you are making personal change, resolving conflict, making important decision in relationships or at work.
