I am pleased to receive and share a testimonial from a movement coaching student that experienced chronic long term pain from an old injury!
I was a Nursing Aide in an extended care facility and have dealt with chronic back pain for more than 15 years.
At one point, my back “went out” just as I was about to turn an 86 year old women in preparation for supper. Immediately, I was doubled over and unable to straighten up for several weeks and off work for several months.
During my recovery, I had chiropractic appointments every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and physiotherapy every Tuesday and Thursday. Over time I gained strength and returned to work, but this time I had a keen sense of just how fragile my back was and tried to be extra careful when lifting and turning bodies.
For the past 15 years I have gone to a Kinesiologist, twice a week for 6 months, a Holistic Chiropractor twice a week for 4 months, Special Needs Yoga for 3 years, Massage, once a week for 1 year, and Physiotherapy for 6 months to get some sort of relief for my lower back, all at great time and expense. Nothing helped.
For several years I slept on the couch with my legs propped up on pillows to relieve the tension in my lower back. Then, I bought an electric bed. At first I had my head and feet positioned at a forty-five degree angle. Otherwise, if I slept “flat, the pressure on my lower back made it extremely painful and impossible for me to get out of bed.
I started seeing Renee earlier this year and found her Feldenkrais Method to be effective as I was starting to experience real results in a very short period of time.
Over time, the pain in my lower back has completely disappeared. Recently, she asked me “From 1-10, how bad is the pain in your body?” I replied “No pain.” For the first time in fifteen years, I can say I am pain free.
Thanks Renee, DH
