What 5 element are you? Fire, Earth, Metal, Water or Wood

Ones primary element can be determined through gender and birth date called the Kua Number.  Kua means life area and this number differs from one’s Chinese astrological number.  The concept comes from Chinese cosmology, the branch of astronomy that deals with the general structure and evolution of the universe. Chinese Astrology attempts to interpret the influence of the heavenly bodies on human affairs.

Potential and life experiences can be influenced by ones Kua number, therefore personal Kua number enhancements can be applied to improve  ones lifestyle, health and well-being. Once knowing it one will know what primary element they are, what colors are best for them, what symbols and directions support them and which ones aren’t.

I consider Kua Numbers for personal enhancements in fashion and decor that is intimate to my needs.

Two Steps to Calculate your Kua Number:

Step 1:

Add the last two digits of your birth year.  Keeping adding until you reach a single digit.  For example:  if your year of birth is 1978, add the last two digits, ie., 7 + 8 =’s 15, which is a double-digit number. Therefore add the two digits, 1 + 5 =’s 6.

Step 2 for Females:

Add 5 to the single digit obtained in previous step. If the result is a double-digit, add the digits to get a single digit number.  For example:  6 +5 =’s 11, which is a double-digit number.  Therefore add the two digits, 1 +1 =’s 2.

Step 2 for Males:

Subtract the single digit obtained in the first step from 10. The resulting single digit number will be the Kua Number for males.  For example:  10 – 6  =’s 4.

More about Yellow in Design

Yellow

InYellow China yellow was the color of the emperor as it depicted the center of the universe and it is often used to contrast black to complement the yin and yang of these two colors.  Their theory is yellow arises out of black as earth arises out of the dark waters, yin and yang.

Common psychological effects are of hope and optimism.  It is a warming and stimulating color that often is associated with happiness and drawing out intellect.  A mid-range yellow palette  supports grounding and stability.

In 5 element theory the palette of yellow has a range considered the fire element and a range considered the earth element.  The fire element of yellows range from bright yellow to the gold of the emperors cloths while the earth range is light yellow and ochre shades of yellow.

The palette range of yellow has different cultural associations, such as dark yellows the color of the sun and happiness and the shade of sulfur as deceitful and evil.    Therefore it is important that in your home or business that the palette chosen is one that is appealing to you!

Best room placements for painting yellow in your home or office:

  • It is an appetizing color that represents fertility, abundance and richness making it a great color choice for the kitchen.
  • It stimulates conversation  and socialization making it a great choice for rooms designed for gatherings; waiting rooms, foyers, living rooms, dining rooms, dens, open group offices and meeting rooms.  (May not be the best choice for bedrooms and private working spaces!)

Wearing yellow:

There are two palette choices wearing yellow;  the sun yellows in the fire element and the ochre yellows in the earth element.

  • Fire Element

In the 5 element nurturing cycle wearing the yellows in the fire element can be accented by the greens and browns in the wood element.   The yellows of the fire element can also be worn to accent the earth palette.

If an outfit is too much fire it can be contrasted with black, the yin to yellows yang!

  • Earth Element

In the 5 element nurturing cycle wearing the yellows in the earth element can be accented by the palette in the fire element.   The yellows of the earth element can also be worn to accent the wood palette.

If an outfit is too much earth add dark blues and blacks in the water element, blues and greens in the wood element and whites and shades of grey in the metal element.
