Past equals present, present equals future

In the land of right and wrong there is only the separating experience of right and wrong.

If one longs for connection, right and wrong isn’t important.

Your motivation for connection is what is important.

The skill: to move beyond reaction to pause and explore your intention.

What examples do you have of how the past influences the present & future?

In my coaching and mentoring with clients and students I hold the understanding of how the past influences the present and future. This is whether it is an environmental consultation Feldenkrais® Functional Integration session/lesson or Nonviolent Communication Session/Lesson. In this photo these Hen’s ‘n Chicks are from a few left at the side of the road off Beach Drive in 2000. They have become a part of the family and moved with us on 4 occasions. Imagine the connection to these garden plants that has grown into a strong bond. When it comes time to space and thin them out there is no way they go into the compost. New ways of sharing them has become a creative adventure that is satisfying. They respond by growing! Each time I observe them I have a connection through our 20 year relationship and knowledge of how they came into our garden knowing exactly where they came from. The relationship has evolved over these 20 years increasing the depth of heart connection and familiarity. The future was influenced by their connection to expanded spontaneous creativity. They have supported creative projects that where unthinkable 20 years ago. With their abundant availability the lack of my creativity turned into hesitant action that has transformed into spontaneous action. Outcome – quieter mind, deeper connection to being grounded and open to the present. What examples do you have of how the past has influenced your present and future?

Present enough to notice what’s right in front of you!

When weeding isn’t weeding anymore!

Yesterday when the person who had wanted dandelions didn’t show up to harvest them, I decided to go out myself and get started.  An area that was originally grass had become weed filled when I  let the neighbors invasive Saint John’s Wort move in.  Digging up never-ending weeds has been a challenge and now I felt lucky to have someone who wanted to harvest the dandelions.

As I began digging I noticed wild onions and had to stop to taste them.  Then I began to separate them from the weeds along with the dandelions.  Then came the baby thistle, then the plantain and finally the fennel.  Weeding wasn’t weeding anymore!  It became a gathering experience.  Each one had to be tasted periodically too.

Once washed and laid out to dry the volume was appreciated.  A small 3 x 4 foot patch reaped a table full of greens for tea’s, salad’s, oils flavored vinegar, poultice’s and creams.  Well, actually too much was eaten.  The first harvest and I couldn’t get enough.

When this gal I mentioned earlier came by to pick up her dandelions,  we stood chatting.  We began eating the leaves off the Saint John Wort and that’s when  it hit me.  What I hadn’t been able to see that is.  What I did see caused much angst and I was blocked from seeing the treasures that were actually there.  They were not hidden, I just wasn’t able to see them!  My focus was on my kids, business and time.  I told myself I didn’t have time and  yet needed it to look a certain way for my business. What a loss.  I imagine now, had I shared this knowledge with my kids they would have had real-time with me and learned something more valuable than doing chores.  So busy being busy.  Ouch!

Proof Positive in my opinion why coming into present moment brings happiness

Wonderful explanation of mind wandering versus being in the moment.  It includes a few sentences on the ability of the mind to organize only known to wo/man kind.

Self-acceptance

Mask 7

Self – Acceptance

First, come into the present. Flash on what’s happening with you right now. Be fully aware of your body, its energetic quality. Be aware of your thoughts and emotions.

Next, feel your heart, literally placing your hand on your chest if you find that helpful. This is a way of accepting yourself just as you are in that moment, a way of saying, “This is my experience right now, and it’s okay.”
