Renee Lindstrom came into my life over two years ago when I enrolled in her Non violent communications class in Oak Bay. She quickly became my life coach and everything has changed dramatically for the better since making that decision. Coming from a very dysfunctional family it took a lot of work and time to overcome fears that were very deepseated and with Renee’s patience and empathy I now have a wonderful relationship with myself and my children.
If you are ready to do the work and want results I would recommend you meet with Renee and watch your life change for the better.

This has been the most challenging period in my life, losing my entire local family, and I do appreciate all the extra time and energy you have given me in order to help me move through what is every woman’s nightmare – the loss of a long-term marriage; but coming out of it, thanks to your support, with my integrity still intact and perhaps improved? Your setting challenges for me as I have progressed have been “challenging” to say the least and I still do not know the outcome of how I will be faring, but I am still here, still alive and although not “happy”, am getting through my days and despite physical and emotional problems and my ongoing anxiety, have moved from being completely dependent on a person (my ex-husband) to relying on getting things done myself or finding at least some of the help I need, without him.
You have inspired me to keep on living when I felt all hope was lost. I am afraid that I will not live up to the task of continuing this, but I am learning more about self-soothing, which I still find very difficult.
Everyone who knows me sees a great improvement in how I handle difficult situations with more grace and efficiency. People in some of the grocery stores I go to comment on how much better I am looking and happier as well.
Like everyone I have days that are worse than others, but I never thought I would get this far. You have encouraged me to be my own parent and although I find this challenging, I find I am handling certain situations I never dreamed I would have to handle or be able to handle.
I know I would never have lived through this process of divorce for this long without your help and your confidence in my abilities to cope.
When I first met you, I was not able to function on my own in any capacity, and now I am spending most of my time taking care of the business of life, home-ownership, and self-care with my physical and emotional challenges….and with no support from family. You have seen me through a period in my life I never thought I would survive.

Renee Lindstrom became the Vice Chair of the The World Children’s Summit on Peace and Nature in February, 2014. However her participation began in the fall of 2013 when she was invited to sit on the board and lead the contemplative workshop. While Vice-Chair her focus was on creating a model for connecting to nature using the arts; photography, music & storytelling and contemplation; body, mindfulness & meaning. This involved organizing the lofty ideas and vision and introducing it to the community.
The Contemplative Workshop itself is new to education and a great opportunity for Renee to create a unique and innovative educational experience. She integrated somatic movement, universal values & leadership. The experience demonstrated a way to easily develop skills in understanding values, feelings, inner connection and acceptance of differences. This workshop was not only educational showed how the benefits of contemplation could be integrated with the purpose of focusing upon compassionate leadership.
As a sponsor of the World Children’s Summit Renee Lindstrom developed a Calendar of values and monthly activities for educators to take part from anywhere in the world! She created a template from the Kids Peace Bus Calendar of Values Program . Part of the workshop included a class dialogue about universal values. The children created their own class values simply by answering the question, “What is important to you in your classroom?”
The World Children’s Summit on Peace and Nature became a relevant event held in a local school that was more than the events themselves. It was a whole program that held a container for a focus of peace. The founder of the Summit brought in a Peace Fountain and Peace Pole as a focus and the participating classes ended the day gathering together to share their individual experiences.

For one week in September, Greater Victoria Celebrates the United Nations International Day of Peace. It begins with a community calendar of events where by groups can share their peace themed events in the days leading up to it and just after it! This includes events sponsored and/or hosted by Renee of Inside Awareness. We are pleased that this year, 2015, revolved around the Labyrinth.
Beginning Saturday, September 13 – #yyj Peace Week was kicked off with the 2nd Annual Puppets for Peace Parade. An event created by local Tim Gosley. During the month of August Tim had a display in the Bay Centre and held various workshops in our community. Tim had invited yyjpeace.com to hang the Ambassador of Peace Exhibit at the Little Fernwood Art Gallery in the weeks leading up to the parade. We now say good-bye to this Peace Pal International Exhibit of children’s art from 86 different countries!
On Wednesday, September 16th two Greater Victoria Community’s proclaimed this Labyrinth Friendship Day. In Victoria this was the 3rd year to do so and in Central Saanich it was their first! It began Wednesday afternoon in Central Saanich at Woodwynn Farms Peace Garden with Dr. Saul Arbess, Founder of the Canadian Peace Initiative reading Mayor Ryan Windsors Proclamation. It continued with a personal quiet walk at Cadboro Bay United Churches beautiful hardwood floor labyrinth and finally to an evening celebration in dedication of Irving Park Labyrinth that was hosted by the Church of Truth, Community of Conscious Living.
On Sunday, September 20th for our first year we held a challenge to build a Community Giving Labyrinth! This challenge was to build a labyrinth with a donation of 1,000 food cans! Permission was granted and we partnered with the Mustard Seed! We donated 510 pounds of food to the Mustards’ Seed 100,000 pound and 100,000 dollar challenge that runs until the end of October. It is their 2nd annual pie off challenge!
On Monday, September 21st the day was dedicated to children! Beginning with a Labyrinth Peace Walk at the Greater Victoria Public Library Central Branch to start our local World Peace Day celebrations! This continued with an evening celebration of International Day of Peace hosted by the World Children’s Summit on Peace and Nature! The World’s Children Summit celebrated Brentwood Bay Elementary’s spring participation in a one day event featuring four workshops. They were on Nature and Photography, Storytelling, Music and Contemplation! The evening also celebrated local Victoria peace elder, ‘Louise Taylor!’ Louise has been an inspiration and has continuously put effort into creating peace wherever her steps have lead her. She has brought back world connections into the Greater Victoria Region. She is the steward of a space dear to many, the CorUnum Centre.
This evening Wednesday, September 23rd, will find us celebrating International Peace Dances and the fall equinox at Irving Park Labyrinth. Betsy Nuse and Louise Taylor will lead us in dance followed by a personal labyrinth walk in community.
