Your Jaw and you

Jaw Jaw

How many of you are familiar with your jaw?  If so, is it because it is tight, sensitive, painful or locked?

This week I worked with a client whose legs started shaking dramatically when massaging their tense jaw.  She had chronically locked her jaw so tightly that it affected how she supported herself through her legs.  Later she mentioned that her walking improved!  Imagine that?

Another client coming to discuss walking explained to me they had surgery on their jaw as a teenager.  Apparently wearing braces had changed the position of their lower jaw.  When the braces came off the teeth were straight but the upper jaw was quite a bit forward of the lower jaw.  The over bite fix was tragic! Breaking the jaw and moving it forward.  Wow, at no time did anyone consider simple learning exercises for releasing the jaw may reduce the need surgery?

“Resolutions imply resolving conflict!” Did you start your year focusing on your inner conflicts?

The Beauty Path WayDid you begin your new year drawing attention to your inner conflict and what you hate about yourself?  If you did, what do you think your chances of success are when your focus is on what’s wrong with you versus what’s right with you?

Ever consider that you can put your failed resolutions down to the validation that you give yourself when you keep reconfirming in your mind what’s wrong with you.  Is your inner-voice telling you that you are a looser?

If you began to shift your focus slightly perhaps you will shift hopelessness into hope and inspiration.  Beginning with:

  • Asking yourself, “What is my motivation?”
  • and “Do I want  to build my confidence or self-sabotage?”

Why I chose a double spiral pathway for goal setting

When I look at a double spiral template I see the galaxy!  How perfect to include this image into goal setting!

Receiving an invitation to be apart of a 2nd annual New Years Eve event with our local Church of Church with a theme of goal setting, I considered offering a different type of pathway than in our previous year.  When originally approaching the Church of Truth in 2014 to express an interest in collaborating in a joint event, my purpose was to create a walk with a  labyrinth into the new year.

This past year I have had a strong focus upon nature and when approached for another event,  I had a longing to include some natural elements into the portion of the event I would be creating.  The labyrinth became a spiral and the material used would be evergreen branches.  For me, my tree is of South African nature, therefore,  in the West of Canada my adopted tree is Cedar.  This is what we used to create the spiral with following a template laid out earlier with strings of traditional strings of outdoor lights.

A single spiral for me represents the need to seek answers.  When walking into the center and back out along the same pathway, one would be trying to make a decision, find solutions or guidance.  The double spiral for me  represents the pathway of longing for change, where one can confidently walk into the center mindfully releasing and then follow a new path to walk out into the world.  A double spiral seems to be a perfect way to psychically ground your intentions and goals!

The spiral image can be found in all cultures, ranging from primitive art to 21st century advertising. The spiral is often associated with the cycle of rebirth, time and seasons and can form a spiritual journey.

The path of transition into 2016!

20160101_005326-1

On New Years Eve as the clock transitioned from 2015 to 2016 a few of our community members gathered to walk a a double spiral pathway to represent this shift of time consciously considering our goals for the new year.  The evening began with Circle Dance with Victoria local, Betsy Nuse and moved into time spent considering what transpired for us in 2015 with another Victoria local Sanjara Omoniyi.  Sanjara followed this with a reflection  of what we hoped for in 2016!

Walking a double spiral then became the manifestation of action, creating an attitude of, so it is done!  Our intention has been mindfully balanced with movement to ground it into our experience.   Renee Lindstrom put together the labyrinth event in a way to include a collaboration with those attending, in part, to increase the sense of holding each other equally in a heart-centered way to bring the group into a shared purpose and introduce an experience non-verbal empathy..

This was an event sponsored by our Victoria Church of Truth, Centre for Conscious Community and a collaboration between Betsy Nuse, Sanjara Omoniy , Renee Lindstrom and the Church of Truth.  It was our second New Years Eve event.
