Past equals present, present equals future

In the land of right and wrong there is only the separating experience of right and wrong.

If one longs for connection, right and wrong isn’t important.

Your motivation for connection is what is important.

The skill: to move beyond reaction to pause and explore your intention.

Like everyone in the world I wondered if my live interaction with students would come back to life

Getting set up for Functional Integration sessions (Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education)

Like everyone in our recent reality seeing people in person had stopped or shifted to phone calls and zoom.  In the past few weeks as talk of  lifting the  restrictions began I had  doubt and uncertainty about how to move forward myself.  There was a  lingering question of whether anyone would come.  I wondered if there was a future.  All it took was a student to connect and inquire if I was seeing anyone yet or not.  They shared they would be willing to connect on-line yet expressed a preference to come in person.  Okay they will come, so now what?

Time to source out disposable face masks, gloves, a face shield, hand sanitizer, cleaners for disinfecting and new cleaning cloths.  Then set to work on the new appearance of the space.  Removing all extraneous objects, getting the steamer in to steam everything including the carpet.  Setting it up to walk through to experience how it could work.  This included changing shoes and having a specific pair just for that space and having disinfectant ready for spraying the soles of their shoes.  Walking through it it became apparent that I will know have to giving directions on how to enter into the office with me opening and closing doors to limit touching.  It’s a lot of extra work.  Going through it I found I was hot and sweating.

My appreciation grew for those in the care industry who have been working on the front lines.

After walking through this and recognizing it was doable I recognized this could be be totally integrated.  Then this same student inquired how much extra I would like to charge for the additional costs, etc.  I was thankful for this inquiry of thoughtfulness  My focus of attention was on the equipment and how to get ready, not the financial costs.  My thoughts go to how living and working through this appears to be affecting pretty much all of the primary nine life areas.  Getting serious about conscious safety at work increases the knowledge on how to be safer in my home life areas.  What ever I experience in either area, work or home, influences all of these:

  1. Wealth
  2. Fame
  3. Relationships
  4. Past
  5. Health
  6. Future
  7. Education
  8. Career
  9. Community

3 things I have learned from this experience

  1. It is doable.
  2. Extra precautions for cleanliness can be taken for the benefit of all.
  3. We can ask for and also be more considerate meeting the needs for valuing others and one-self.

What examples do you have of how the past influences the present & future?

In my coaching and mentoring with clients and students I hold the understanding of how the past influences the present and future. This is whether it is an environmental consultation Feldenkrais® Functional Integration session/lesson or Nonviolent Communication Session/Lesson. In this photo these Hen’s ‘n Chicks are from a few left at the side of the road off Beach Drive in 2000. They have become a part of the family and moved with us on 4 occasions. Imagine the connection to these garden plants that has grown into a strong bond. When it comes time to space and thin them out there is no way they go into the compost. New ways of sharing them has become a creative adventure that is satisfying. They respond by growing! Each time I observe them I have a connection through our 20 year relationship and knowledge of how they came into our garden knowing exactly where they came from. The relationship has evolved over these 20 years increasing the depth of heart connection and familiarity. The future was influenced by their connection to expanded spontaneous creativity. They have supported creative projects that where unthinkable 20 years ago. With their abundant availability the lack of my creativity turned into hesitant action that has transformed into spontaneous action. Outcome – quieter mind, deeper connection to being grounded and open to the present. What examples do you have of how the past has influenced your present and future?

Imagine eating something that contributes to your whole well-being; physical, mental, emotionally and spiritually

I recently posted a picture of sourdough bread on Instagram with a mention that I hadn’t purchased bread in a year.  It got a few heart likes and some reply’s.

What I didn’t have space to write is the difference in me reaching for my bread and noticing my room mates plastic bags of bread.   Now I can differentiate between my experience of my baked bread and purchased plastic bags of bread from the grocer.  I have a connection to the bread that wasn’t there before that is tangible. An illusive experience of connection has become obvious through integration of growing a sourdough starter and feeding it for over a year while learning to create loaves of bread with it.

For me, this is an act of illusive activism as well.  No more plastic bags, twist ties or plastic tabs to hold the bag together!  It’s a win, win.  Healthier connection to food resources, healing myself and the planet.

Why healing?  Imagine eating something that you connects you to your own creativity and contributes to your whole well-being; physical, mental, emotional and spiritually.  Each mouth full is a feel good moment.  It deepens inner support and confident and strength.  Especially for those of us that didn’t have the tools modeled for them to tap into their inner strength.

Re-evaluating lifestyles: Wild ‘green juice’

Purple Dead Nettle

I use wild greens as an alternative to wheat grass juice to begin the day’s food journey.  As the sun begins to have some heat to it this chickweed pictured above will decline.  There will be other greens to replace it  such as dandelion greens,  and Purple Dead Nettle  pictured here.  What I am observing is that the wild greens create a dark green juice than store bought grass,  celery and parsley.  It’s also yard to glass meaning it has fuller life essence.

Re-evaluating lifestyles

Horseradish

Thankful now to have begun creating fire cider brew for immune boosting properties and in the process  (due to over riced horseradish & shipped in from overseas & arriving soft), began growing it. Was able to break into 5 pots last fall and hope to get them in the ground soon – here is a great recipe for fire cider I posted on my nature blog – https://livingnatureslove.blog/2018/09/30/fire-cider-immune-booster-recipe

Strong natural disinfectant with citrus and vinegar

In 2018 I began fermenting apple cider vinegar from scratch.  When it was ready I decided to infuse it with the orange, grapefruit and lemon peels that I was collecting.  You will recognize these citrus fruits as additives in your store purchased cleaners as  their oils they are  a powerful antiseptic.  They smell good too.

You can use white vinegar to infuse with  your fresh citrus peels rather than making apple cider vinegar from scratch.  It only takes a few days to draw the oils out of the peels.

Once infused it doesn’t take much to make a natural antiseptic spray cleaner.  I use just under a one part of infused vinegar to 4 parts water (if using apple cider vinegar and washing walls, I use less vinegar).

Use baking soda as a scrub for tough marks, grease and spills.  You will be surprised at how clean surfaces become.  Pause to check in as you may notice that the surroundings have a different feel to them.  Both baking soda and salt are softening agents and can be used to soften water.  This translates into the surroundings too.  Your body is  in more aligned with natural elements and opens or softens with them while harsh chemicals can attach your senses,  cause allergies and mood swings.  I have personally noticed that I enjoy being in my environment more and that creating my own cleaners from household products is grounding and satisfying.

Once you begin to use these products you may find them easier and cheaper to use eliminating the need for costly cleaners.

Vinegar-Currently I recommend that you buy from local grocery stores as the prices have been inflated on-line.
