Garden Landscape Designs

by Renee Lindstrom, founder of Inside Awareness Center for Integrative Learning

Here is a Labyrinth Pattern I designed about 15 years ago. The intention was to design it for limited mobility access where the walker may become a scooter. The seed pattern for the labyrinth is a cross sections to reflect the cardinal directions which is duplicated in the Medicine Wheel and other traditions throughout history. The objective was to provide seating at each cardinal direction once entering from the East.

This design was also my interpretation of honoring an earlier career of the person it was being designed for who studied the middens archaeology of the far north of B.C. and into Alaska. It was a tribute to a ‘mentor.’ One of my mentors. I call it Dee’s Labyrinth.

What I love about the design is that it can be adjusted for smaller spaces by taking out middle pathways.
