It is suggested that it strengthens the voice and heals the throat and the larynx. This piece of blue kyanite was given to Renee in 2001 by a peer who partnered with her to open the first compassionate communication circle based on Dr. Marshall Rosenberg’s model and patterns as described in Nonviolent Communication.

Sacred Space
Ceremony
- Sage
Sage is popular for clearing or cleaning the environment. This intention has been around longer than organized religion. As a practitioner of creating sacred space, this is a natural tool in Renee’s toolkit. Renee uses sage to clear energetic heaviness in a space, surrounding her and to bring clarity of mind before meditation. Pictured above are the different sages available she has been curious about when not using the sage she has grown. After clearing with sage Renee will burn sweetgrass in the space. Sacred Tobacco is offered at the end of a formal ceremony or meditation to connect with a higher self or spirit. In Renee’s formal meditation practice the use of incense is used to bring smoke and a sweet smell during the ceremony of sitting practice. She will burn incense during her personal space-clearing ceremonies to tap into this intention of mindfulness.

- Palo Santo Sticks
Ever curious, Renee began using Palo Santo sticks upon hearing how they were used by Indigenous peoples in South America for healing practices. Growing her own plants for healing purposes she wanted to explore the differences in burning locally grown healing plants and Palo Santos. It was love at first experience and as it cleanses the space and fills the space with the sweet aroma she will burn Palo Santo when time is limited to replace her more formal practice of Sage and Sweetgrass.

Feng Shui Accessories
- Bagua
This Baqua is a traditional cure of Feng Shui that Renee still uses today. This trigram is designed from the back of a tortoise and is the origin of the IChing. With the mirror at the center of this Baqua style, Renee uses it to deflect any negative thought projections that come her way. Thoughts create energetic projections much like secret arrows. If there is ongoing possibility of negativity in the environment she will put this up about her front door. In a recent situation of sharing space, she put it up outside her bedroom door. If used with intention it is a practical tool to create greater calm and groundedness within the space.

- Convex Mirrors
Renee uses convex mirrors on the outside of her windows to deflect negative projections outward. The shape of the mirror deflects it in many directions versus a flat mirror which may create a forceful direct projection. When on the windows, it looks like a security system. Etherically it is!
Spiritual Tools for Connection
Oracle Cards
- Spirit Animal Oracle
These animal oracle cards are designed by Canadian Colette Baron-Reid. Colette is a writer, speaker, medium and oracle. I enjoy these cards as they bring focus to the value of animal spirits and drawing a card each day it brings me into connection with them. This card is the Badger and its affirmation brings a smile, “be fearless and bold.”

- Messages from your Angels
These cards were designed by Author Doreen Virtue. Doreen has a number of books published on the topics of Angel numbers, Clearing the Chakras, and Crystal therapy, etc. The volume of her interests in her work that she produced before coming a born again Christian is still used frequently by those not attached to religious community groups. I enjoy the connecting to the energies that reflect the Angels in these cards as a surprising number of students inquire about them!

- Crystals
A deck of 50 cards introducing different crystals and stones that include facts and qualities that I call universal values. However, for Renee, she enjoys the added component of how the value qualities married to each stone is relatable to expanding a connection to universal values. It is a huge opportunity to connect to intention.

Cards for integration, learning and play
- Moonology

These are great cards to track the moon’s journey and interpretations to integrate the environmental influences they have in our relationships to people, places and things. On a trip to the Yucatan on a tour, Renee learned that the Aztecs began standing on the highest point at night to observe the universe. She learned the intention was to integrate the relationship of the movement in the sky to stimuli surrounding them. After this, she began paying more attention to the significance of this as a source of environmental influences. As a dominant somatic visual interpreter, she began to use these cards to touch in and observe shifts.

- Tarot
Arthur Edward Waite (2 October 1857 – 19 May 1942), commonly known as A. E. Waite, was an American-born British poet and scholarly mystic who wrote extensively on occult and esoteric matters, and was the co-creator of the Rider-Waite Tarot deck. As his biographer R. A. Gilbert described him, “Waite’s name has survived because he was the first to attempt a systematic study of the history of western occultism—viewed as a spiritual tradition rather than as aspects of proto-science or as the pathology of religion.”
Bio from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
In 1909, artist Pamela Colman Smith’s involvement with the Order of the Golden Dawn led to a commission from Arthur Edward Waite to create a 78-card tarot deck. Originally known as the Rider deck, it was the first to include full pictorial scenes for the Minor Arcana pips. Pamela’s varied mystical influences are evident throughout the deck. Once considered revolutionary, The Rider-Waite deck has set the standard for hundreds of other decks and has inspired a myriad of different versions available from U.S. Games Systems, Inc.
Renee has had this Rider Waite deck for approx., 35 years. These cards are for her personal use only and she doesn’t offer specific readings for others herself. One of the uses is for developing her interpretation skills and using them is a novel way for her to marry together and balance her empathic or somatic abilities with her cognitive organizational ones. It’s her personal form of balancing right and left brain function while expanding her viewpoint.
