May your transition into the season of self-connection be peaceful and meaningful

A choice this fall interrupted the familiar flow of my own seasonal  patterns.  I brightly made a decision to get some hens to provide eggs so I could have some more control over the quality of them.  What I wasn’t prepared for were roosters!  In the process of their growing into pullets and cockerels I fell in love.  They started calling loudly  as they got older so they had to go to a better place outside the city.  I felt love turn into resentment as my own needs for safety weren’t met from the noise that stimulated fear of outcomes.  Yet when getting them ready for transitioning to a new place the sadness was heartfelt.    The grief had me questioning my choices.  Left with one hen  I decided to get another one for company.  I have since learned the replacement was too young.   More time now is spent on providing separate spaces  until young one can fight back and hold their own space.  Another set-back, or so it seemed until I began picking them up to transport them.  The the little one snuggled in under my jacket and became quiet as it was receiving the affection and love it was seeking from the feisty bigger bird who was too young itself to be nurturing.  I felt a familiar warmth of love in the nanosecond the little one pushed into me for comfort.  Over the days it had begun to trust and recognize where it felt safe.

Through this short season these experiences with the chickens has been a game changer.  They abruptly shifted my focus of attention and with their addition, something had to give in order to care for them.  Each day I have felt healthier with this shift in focus.  Their antics have brought joy, laughter and meaning.   Days have slowed down and became playful.
.
These chickens have deepened the concept of intention, solutions and consequences.   They also reminded me  how quickly love turns into resentment when needs are not met and survival reactions set in.  The mind thoughts quickly turn to mean moral judgements of self.  Thoughts that are not real, however take control.  The sadness of grief  instantly returned feelings to a centeredness with meaning.  Finally, these experiences brought alive the value of caring for something outside oneself whereby nurturing brings a state of loving connection.  One that doesn’t compare to any other love sense.
.
Sharing this with you my hope is to express how we make decisions daily that influence activities in the days that follow.    Some choices are devastating and others meaningful.  Sometimes both can happen in quick succession.  However, this is the life experience.  Feeling the feels during these chicken escapades has actually streamlined the randomness of my work life that has been hugely rewarding.  It has balanced where time is spent and increased connectedness while working.   I have witnessed similar changes in my students these past months whereby new ways of learning have integrated into more spontaneous life responses.  I perceive this as growing inner-trust and self-support that is influencing new responses to life.  I appreciate our learning opportunities together and want to express my deepest gratitude for the trust you have invested in me to take you into this new learning journey into physical movement, identifying the inner stories for increased language connection and environmental influences.
.
May winter be a season of nurturing for you to explore and be restful in before springs stimulates and reflects new growth.
.
I look forward to our time together in the coming seasons.
