The Season for Nonviolence was created by Arun Gandhi, Mohandas Gandhi’s grandson in 1998. It is a yearly celebration for cultivating peace that begins April 30th and ends on April 4th. It is based upon the philosophies of peace leaders that have made a cultural impact during their lives. These are Mohandas Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. In recent years the Dali Lama has become a representative of this awareness campaign anchored by a mission, statement of principles, and commitments by participants towards living in a nonviolent way.
The Season of Nonviolence is a 64 Day observation of peace. It is hosted and supported by the AGNT, Age for New Global Thought Organization, their members and task forces.
